Introduction

Definition

The Dar-Es-Salaam Local Scouts Association is a voluntary, non-political and educational movement for young people open to all without distinction of origin, race, gender, creed or ethnic/ tribal background in accordance with the purpose, principle and method as conceived by the founder, registered under Tanzania Scout Association, as a Non-Government Organization, which established in 1963 as Tanganyika Boy Scouts Association and renewed it certificate as a Tanzania Scouts Association in (TSA) 2005. In addition the TSA is a registered member of the World Organization of the Scouts Movement (WOSM)

The Dar-Es-Salaam Local Scouts Association's location and address; head quarter office is located at the Ilala District in Malik Road Upanga, Dar-Es-Salaam with the Post address of 38343 Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.



Purpose;

Is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, social and character potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, regional, national and international communities.




The Dar-Es-Salaam Local Scouts Association Vision;

To have the largest youth educational movement in a peaceful and harmonious country where every young person – boy and girl is self reliant and empowered to enjoy their rights and realize their full potentials to become useful citizens.




The Dar-Es-Salaam Local Scouts Association Mission;

The mission of Scouting in Tanzania is to contribute to the education of young people through a value system based on the Scout Law and Promise, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in the society. This is achieved by:-
Involving youth through out their formative years in a non-formal educational process. Using a specific method that makes each individual the principle agent in ones development as a self reliant, supportive, responsible and committed person. Assisting them to establish value system based upon spiritual, social and personal principles as expressed in the scouts law and promise.
